Multinational Force & Observers Medal


Description

A Bronze medal 1 3/8 inches (3.49 cm) in diameter suspended from a bar. The obverse bears olive branches and a dove in an S-shaped configuration surrounded by the words MULTINATIONAL FORCE above and & OBSERVERS below. On the reverse are the words UNITED IN SERVICE FOR PEACE.


Symbolism

The olive branches and dove relate to the Multinational Force and Observers peaceful mission and the hope of peace throughout the world. The S-shaped configuration refers to the Sinai Peninsula as the place of service.


Ribbon

The ribbon is 1 3/8 inches (3.49 cm) in width composed of the following vertical stripes: 3/8 inch Orange 67110; 1/8 inch Olive 67134; 3/8 inch White 67101; 1/8 inch Olive 67134; and 3/8 inch Orange 67110.

Background

The Multinational Force and Observers Medal was established by the Director General, Multinational Force Observers on 24 March 1982. Presidential acceptance for the United States Armed Forces and DOD civilian personnel was announced by the Department of Defense on 28 July 1982.
